On the old ZVW51, the lower price is a normal S and the upper price is a Touring Selection. On the new car, the lower price is the simpler grade and the upper price is the better one. For 2024-and-newer cars we price low-mileage, grade 4.5 cars. The 2.0 L Prius pays much higher import duty than the 1.8 L and the plug-in. Priuses made in 2020 or earlier can no longer be imported.

Fuel cost in Dhaka
This is the reason to buy one. Toyota rates the 2WD 1.8 L new Prius at 32.6 km/L overall and 29.9 km/L in the city part of the WLTC test. That city figure matters most in Dhaka traffic, though real results will differ.
Plug-in or normal hybrid?
If you can charge at home, the plug-in makes daily trips very cheap. If you can’t, it carries extra battery weight for little gain, and the 1.8 L is the better buy.
Roads and comfort
The new Prius is low: 1,420 mm tall with 145 mm of ground clearance. It is fine on good city roads, but take broken roads and speed breakers slowly. Elders may find the old shape easier to get into.
Value
The price jump between the 1.8 L and 2.0 L comes largely from duty. A 2023 2.0 L can cost about ৳12 Lakh more than a 2023 1.8 L at the lower end, so be sure you want the extra power.

What to Check Before Buying a Reconditioned Prius
- Chassis code: ZVW51 is the old 2WD, ZVW60 the new 1.8 L, MXWH60 the new 2.0 L and MXWH61 the plug-in. Check it on the auction sheet.
- Past use: many X and U cars were fleet or rental cars, so read the sheet’s mileage and grade closely.
- Hybrid battery: ask for the health report. On a plug-in, also check the charging cable and port.
- Underbody: a low front bumper can scrape on speed breakers.
